Look for figures to continue increasing around the state and locally as COVID-19 testing increases.
More than 300,000 tests have been conducted across Georgia in past weeks to find positive COVID-19 cases, and out of that the state has found more than 37,910 people who have contracted the virus.
Locally, that number is only 79 people – and out of that there have only been 12 hospitalizations, and fortunately no deaths.
Statewide and even around Polk County, those figures look a lot different. Numbers continued to grow as 6,864 people have required a trip to the hospital due to the virus, and out of that 1,558 people have been treated in intensive care units.
Sadly, some 1,612 Georgians have not survived their battle with COVID-19.
The figures similarly have continued to grow around the area. Here’s a rundown of where those stood this morning:
- Bartow County reported 384 cases of COVID-19, requiring 129 hospitalizations and the loss of 35 people due to the virus.
- Paulding posted figures of 240 people who have contracted COVID-19 and been found positive in testing, with 58 hospitalizations required and 10 deaths reported.
- Up in Floyd County, the total sat at 180 total cases of COVID-19 as of this morning, with 43 hospitalizations required. Sadly they have reported that 13 people have died from the virus.
- Haralson County’s figure sat at 34 this morning, with nine people who have required hospitalization and two deaths.
National tallies increased to 1,467,065 cases of COVID-19, and 88,709 deaths from the virus according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
