A slight increase after several days without a positive COVID-19 case put Polk County’s figure at 67 as of the midday update as statewide, the numbers continue to increase at a steady pace.
Local tallies put the number of hospitalizations at 11, and no deaths were reported as of the May 12 update according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Totals on the state level reached 34,635 people who have COVID-19, but that’s out of a total of 262,179 that have been administered across Georgia since reporting began in late February.
Georgia’s total number of hospitalizations sat at 6,130 as of May 12, and out of that some 1,443 people required treatment in intensive care units.
Sadly, some 1,461 people have died from the virus in Georgia so far.
Regional figures stood as follows as of the May 12, 1 p.m. update:
- In Bartow County, the tally stood at 366 people who have tested positive for COVID-19, with 126 hospitalizations required and 33 deaths reported.
- Paulding County has 229 cases of COVID-19, with 56 hospitalizations reported and 10 deaths.
- Floyd County’s total stood at 159 positive cases of COVID-19, and out of that some 40 people have been hospitalized. Their number of deaths remained at 12.
- Haralson County reported 33 cases, eight hospitalizations and two deaths.
