After setting new record of daily increase in COVID-19 positive locally, the number was much more in line with new infection reported o avera in past months, but still the number is going up according to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s July 16 report.

Polk increased by 14 new positives for the virus today, bringing the total sin tracking began to 386 cases. No new hospital patien were reported in the past 24 hours, or num of death that remains at one.

Statewide, a new 3,441 positives were reported, bringing the total to 131,275 people, Georgia who have contracted COVID-19 since tracking began. The daily report added 244 new hospital patients, bringing that figure up to 14,346.

The number or new deaths statewide was 13, with 3,104 total deaths since tracking began.

Polk County saw a new record increase in the daily total of 38, with one hospitalization added as well.

Nationwide the new infection count was at 67,404, bringing the total infections to 3,483,832 according to CDC reports for July 16. They report 947 new deaths over the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 136,938.
