Local officials joined with youth on Thursday for an early tree planting to celebrate Georgia’s Arbor Day a few days early.

The event put on by the city allowed youth to join in and plant trees that will one day reach toward the sky around the sports complex near the park’s batting cages and baseball fields.

Georgia’s Arbor Day is celebrated on February 20 annually, so the city is a few days early with their plantings for the statewide celebration. The nationally-recognized day for giving back to mother earth with new saplings is on Friday, April 26 this year.

Thanks to Aimee Madden at the City of Cedartown for sharing these photos with Polk Today of Thursday’s event. – KtE
