The 23rd anniversary is coming up for a local church, and they will be celebrating a lot of things at once this coming Sunday and invite those who want to participate to join in worship and praise.
This coming Sunday, Zion A Habitation of God’s Glory and Praise is hosting their first service after a recent purchase of a new church building to use in Cedartown. The church is taking over the Rock Church located at 230 Marietta St. in Cedartown.
The celebrations will begin with service at 11 a.m. and continue through following with a ceremonial burning of the mortgage.
The church is taking up their new home after moving from their former location at 972 Prior Station Road, which was damaged last July in a storm and was forced to close down for a time.
Services have since been virtual, and are going to return to a limited in-person setting at their new home in Cedartown.
Those interested in attending the celebration this coming Sunday, February 14, are asked to wear a mask, socially distance and make sure to have a small bottle of hand sanitizer with them at the ceremony.
Apostle Trixie Morgan, who heads the church, is excited for the opportunity to serve the community again.
“I’m really excited to be back in the neighborhood,” she said. “We had service there in 2005, but now we’re able to buy that particular property.”
Her hopes are to expand their services to get more involved in the community around Marietta Street, ranging from offering a library to providing a food pantry, and helping local residents find employment as their vision for the future.
Those interested in more information can find the church on Facebook.
