A temporary situation is going to require some patience from students, staff and parents at Cedartown High School not just with the new time for school starting, but also for a project underway to ensure there’s enough classroom space for everyone.
The PSD’s latest Modular Classroom unit is being delivered to the Cedartown High campus this week, and this will require those who are making morning dropoffs and temporarily block some student parking on campus near the front entrance to the school.
Executive Director of Facilities Todd Tillery said the area is being encroached upon by the delivery of the modular classroom unit being installed at CHS this week should be limited and last only as long as it takes to complete the process.
“We ask that everyone be patient with the work, but also with the new schedule as everyone gets used to the start time changing,” Tillery said.
Nine modular units sections were delivered to the CHS campus and are taking up spaces around the College and Career Academy area for the time being until the installation is completed. The classrooms are prebuilt and include all of the necessary amenities inside, and only need utility connections completed once the setup on pads is finished. Entrances will have to be fixed up as well.
He also noted the change in school start time to earlier in the morning will also impact bus routes, and appreciates the understanding of the entire community as those changes get underway on Tuesday morning during the morning and afternoon commutes.
Rockmart High is also feeling the changes on campus as school starts on Tuesday amid a major construction project and gets ready for delivery of a modular classroom unit on their campus as well.
