City of Cedartown’s Director of Tourism and Economic Development recently got recognition for her eye for a quality shot after she was announced as a winner in a category for the 2021 Georgia’s Rural Center Photo Contest on Tuesday.

Her photo “Downtown Cedartown in the Spring” took the prize for the Downtown Category Winner, featuring a shot of Main Street pointing north at the corner of Sterling Holloway Place. It had already been featured on the city’s Facebook page.

“It was a couple of years ago, it’s not a recent picture. I took it on my lunch break outside of Bussey’s Florist,” Madden said.

She was glad for the recognition of her photo, and of the beauty of downtown Cedartown.

“I had no idea I would win anything,” she said.

Georgia’s Rural Center – which is organized via Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College – gave awards to 12 different photographers in this year’s contest.
