Two men are being sought after an armed robbery attempt was reported on Saturday morning at an East Avenue gas station in Cedartown, according to police.

Detectives are asking for help from the public in identifying two suspects: a man holding the gun and demanding money, and a lookout that was involved in the incident at an East Avenue gas station on Saturday morning, May 10 around 5:50 a.m.

According to detectives, the two men entered the store and one attempted to open a door into the clerk’s area and found it locked, then went around to the front counter window and pointed a gun at the clerk, demanding money.

Since it was bulletproof glass, the attempted robber got nowhere as the clerk simply held the small pass-through window closed until the two men fled on foot before Cedartown Police arrived.

A K-9 Officer was brought out to see if a track could be established but wet weather washed away the scent before the either individual could be located.

Police are hoping the public will recognize either individual based on what they had on Saturday morning.

The description provided by investigators of the alleged suspect who held the firearm included a black male wearing black shoes, gray sweatpants and a black sweatshirt that was being worn inside out. The other individual – the alleged lookout in the incident – was also described as a black male wearing white Air Force 1 Sneakers, blue sweatpants and a black sweatshirt also inside out, but with a red graphic trim on at least one sleeve.

Both are believed to be between the ages of 16 and 22.
