City Commissioners on Monday night in Cedartown took some time out to hear from Cedartown-Polk County Humane Society President Charlotte Harrison and the latest from the organization created 10 years ago to help dogs and cats find forever homes in and around the area.

However, Commissioners also had a sneaky surprise for her.

Harrison was honored by the City Commission for her longtime community service via the Humane Society and other organizations since moving to Cedartown in the 1990s.

She noted that she was thankful for the proclamation, but that it represented the work of countless others who she believes makes the hard work a success to benefit all of Polk County.
