Whether you just wanted to find some handmade arts and crafts or took part in the annual Road Race or Dog Show, the Cedar Valley Arts Festival over the weekend had something for everyone – even with a wet Saturday.

The annual show opened early on Friday evening, April 23 for shoppers, and continued through Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25 and despite being disrupted by wet weather on Saturday, ended with sunny skies and smiling faces on Sunday.



This year’s Best of Show award for vendors went to A Nurse’s Way, with other category winners taking home ribbons and checks for their efforts to provide arts and crafts for sale to the community. Those also included:

First Place Functional Decorative – Thistle & Olive

Second Place Functional Decorative – Must Love Tiaras

Third Place Functional Decorative – A Leigh Designs

First Place Fine Craft – Malsnee Pottery

Second Place Fine Craft – Richard Cheatham

Third Place Fine Craft – Farmhouse Customs

Along with awards for arts and crafts, this year’s winners of the 5K/10K were announced after Saturday’s race as well.

Dalton Benefield of Cedartown finished the 5K race in first place with a time of 19:37, with Alli Hicks of Cedartown as the first place female racer with a time of 23:36.

Brian Bearden took a first place in the 10K with a time of 42:36. The only female runner in the 10K Krista Tyree of Piedmont, Alabama finished with a time of 1:09:52.

This weekend also saw the annual dog show held at Peek Park for the festival. Here’s photos of this year’s participants:



This year’s event was the 56th annual edition of the Cedar Valley Arts Festival. It is an annual fundraiser for the Cedartown Junior Service League, who use the funds to help youth in the community in a variety of ways and also providing help for nonprofit organizations.
