Mr. Buford May

Mr. Buford May, age 84 of Hixson, Tennessee, formerly of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. He was born on February 20, 1939 in Cedartown. He was the son of the late Clyde May, Sr. and Rovine Stephens May.

Mr. May, “Boots” was retired from many years of working at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

Boots married Doty in 1961 and they had two girls that were his pride and joy, and he was so proud when their grandsons were born.

Buford was a loving man, who adored his family, siblings, his church, and working many years at Dingler Motor Company and for Mr. Reese Barrett detailing cars; he would make them shine! He cared so much for his home and having his yard look perfect.

Mr. May is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Lefevers May; daughters, Tammy Singleton (David) and Melissa Bayless (Russ); brother, Jimmy May; grandchildren, Josh Singleton, Logan Singleton, Spencer Bayless and Conner Bayless; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. May is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Odessa Knight and Helen Hill; and brothers, Clyde May, Jr. and Billy May.

The funeral service for Mr. May will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at three o’clock in the afternoon at New Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. DeWayne New and Rev. Phillip Drake officiating. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.

The family of Mr. May will receive family and friends on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from one o’clock in the afternoon until funeral hour at New Harmony Baptist Church.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Josh Singleton, Logan Singleton, Spencer Bayless, Conner Bayless, Scott May, Greg May, Mark Addison, and Mike Lefevers. Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Giles, Cleland Weldon, Joey May, Dennis Hill, and Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
