Board of Education approves land purchase

A property adjacent to Rockmart High School will soon be under the ownership of Polk School District, but what the plans are for the new acreage is not yet determined.

Board of Education members voted to approve the purchase of 20 acres from from Mark and Melody Terry for their Carlton Drive property for a price of $275,000. Closing is set to happen soon.

The property sits behind he Agriculture Education Center at Rockmart High School.

Plans for what to do with the property have not yet been determined.

Another meeting is already ahead for the Board of Education coming up on Tuesday after Memorial Day.

The meeting calls for members to approve of the agenda and go immediately into executive session when they gather at 4 p.m. at the Central Office in Cedartown. They’ll come back out to vote on personnel matters and close the session.
