Charges have been filed and a woman who was booked on felonies and misdmeanors for the death of a missing Floyd County man was released on bond today.
Local law enforcement officials and Georgia State Patrol both confirmed that Chasmine Miye’ Lowe, 24, of Rome was booked into the Polk County Jail on Tuesday, according to online jail records.
She was charged with the death of Sharad Robinson, 28, who was found deceased in the area near the Floyd-Polk County line on Highway 27 North on Monday afternoon.
Those charges include felonies for homicide by vehicle – first degree non hv, and hit and run resulting in serious injury/death/damage, and misdemeanors for failure to maintain lane and failure to report a accident with injury/death/damage.
She was held until today, and was released on a $10,000 bond.
Floyd County officials had been looking for Robinson since his disappearance on December 18, and he was found 8 days later on Monday, December 26.
Georgia State Patrol previously reported that Robinson is believed to have been struck and died as a result of his wounds while he was walking southbound on the east shoulder of Highway 27 North.
His body was discovered in an area that wouldn’t have been visible to those passing by following the hit-and-run incident, thus why it took several days to discover where he died.
Polk Today has reached out to the Georgia State Patrol for further comment.
