Aragon BBQ kicks off this evening

Softball, vendors, barbecue and live music are all part of the fun coming up this evening and through the day and into the night on Saturday as the 49th annual Aragon BBQ returns to Pittman Park for the weekend.

The annual celebration of Aragon kicks off this evening at 6 p.m.

The city got at least two dozen vendor signups by Thursday (28 officially) to participate in this year’s event. Mayor Judd Fee added that eight teams are signed up to play softball starting on Saturday morning as well.

This year’s BBQ kicks off this evening with live music at Pittman Park.

The entertainment line-up begins at 6 p.m. with Elyse Goss taking the stage, followed by Michael Goss and the Antioch Praise Band after that to close out the evening.

Jim Graves opens the afternoon shows, with Draketown’s following at 3 p.m. Runaway Coach. The Jax Braxton Band plays at 4 p.m., followed by Amanda Wade and Evan Avery at 5 p.m.

A break will follow the duo as the City of Aragon makes some presentations, with Dalton Cloud bringing back the music for the rest of the night. Michael Goss and the Antioch Praise Band returns to the stage at 7 p.m., Sam Hull is playing at 8 p.m., and to finish out the Aragon BBQ before the fiery finish is Cameron Rainey at 9 p.m.

Fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m.

Vendors at this year’s event include several opportunities for shopping, snacking, and learning about organizations throughout the day on Saturday. A tent will also be setup to help those interested in voting register to take part in the November election.
