First it was Pork Chop running from police when he got out of the barnyard. Then there was a feathered felon who landed within the confines of the jail.
Now a feline has turned up trying to take over the hearts of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
A morning posting from the Sheriff’s Office on Facebook shared their latest animal encounter story, involving a deputy’s discovery of a kitten coming from the PCSO parking lot. Deputies were able to find a kitten trapped under the motor of a vehicle, but in such a spot that the tiny furball hidden within wasn’t coming out without some help.
Fortunately for the PCSO, just right around the corner the Polk County Public Works barn is located, so the vehicle was moved and mechanics got to work to free the kitten from the engine bay.
No animals were harmed during the incident, and “Lucky” as the deputies dubbed the kitten turns out to be owned by a neighbor of an employee at the Sheriff’s Office.
“She’s now safe, sound, and napping at the office until shift change,” PCSO shared on Facebook. “Huge shout out to the Polk County Barn crew for saving the day!”
The Sheriff’s Office has attracted all kinds of animal attention over the past months. Back in March, a goose (or duck, never was entirely sure) landed at the jail and was wrangled up by staff. They also helped track a pig that had escaped back in March.
