Dalton – Saturday, May 15, 2021 – The 14th Congressional Districts held the Republican District Convention over the weekend.
The Whitfield County Republican Party played host to the Convention at the Dalton Convention that included the twelve (12) counties that make up the 14th Congressional District. Those counties include Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Paulding, Pickens (Partially, see also 9th district), Polk, Walker, and Whitfield.
A total of 238 voting delegates were seated at the Convention. Polk County’s GOP was authorized 19 voting delegates to participate at the convention following the Polk County GOP’s local convention held in April.
Representing the Polk County delegation were Chair Janet Ross, Ken Suffridge, Larry Reynolds, Colt Chambers, Linda Liles, Jim and Karen Zauderer, Wayne and Jill Weaver, and James and Susan Vines.
14th District Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene gave the keynote address to open the convention. She emphasized the many accomplishments made by the Republican Party since 2016 ignored and unreported by the mainstream media.
One of the many issues she said had gone unreported was the legislation taking place in Washington by the Biden Administration intended to take this Country down a Socialist path. She talked about the need for Congress to use the “power of the purse” to curtail many programs pushed by the Biden Administration, at the same time assuring the Republicans position of a strong military, a strong defense.
A surprise to many attendees was the arrival of Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, who spoke to GOP convention participants about the many positive things happening in the Georgia Legislature and the bad press Georgia continues to receive from the media.
Elected Chairman of the 14th Congressional District was Denise Burns of Catoosa County. She will represent the 14th District at the State Convention will be held at Jekyll Island, GA on June 4 & 5, 2021.
