The year is going to end a bit soggy as the weekend forecast calls for rain, and chances for more of the same heading into the New Year.

Look for showers starting this evening, with cloudy skies dominating the forecast with gusty winds as a system moves into the area for the final weekend of 2024. Rain chances are up to 60% starting after 5 p.m., and a high of 56 is expected.

Temperatures won’t shift much overnight as a low dips down to 49, and 100% chance of showers going into the weekend, with more wet weather in the forecast through Saturday and Sunday.

Look for rain to move out for Sunday night and foggy conditions to persist as the thermometer shifts into the lower 40s. Sunshine returns on Monday with a high of 65 based on predictions from Peachtree City meteorologists, and a low down to 47 as chances of showers beginning after midnight.

Look for chances of rain at 40% through Tuesday with partly sunny skies for the final day of 2024, and temps to dip down to 37 overnight with cloudy skies to ring in the New Year.

2025 will be greeted by a cooldown, with a high of 54 and mostly sunny skies for the day, and overnight to dip down toward freezing with widespread frost across the area.

The opening days of 2025 will see Polk cool down some, with 40s expected and potential for temps down into the 20s overnight heading into the first weekend of the year. Winter will begin to set following the first week of the year.

Extending into the rest of winter, Polk County is probably expecting an overall mild and wet season into 2025.

Good news? No snow is likely in our forecast. And Polk will probably get some periods of chill, but spring will be coming faster than anyone can know. Time flies, doesn’t it?
