Better bundle up heading off to work this morning and Friday, because frost is in the forecast from the National Weather Service.

NWS Peachtree City meteorologists are calling for widespread frost across Polk County this morning, but it should melt away before lunchtime with temps warming up to 50 for the day. Fortunately, only a light breeze is expected today at 5 mph. Overnight temps are expected to drop below freezing again to 30 degrees and more frost expected.

Friday’s forecast should be much the same, with with a high of 56 but cloudy skies in store heading into a weekend when rain is on the way. Look for winds to pick up overnight with gusts as high as 15 mph and a low down to 38.

Rain is expected over the weekend, but the Saturday daytime forecast just calls for clouds and a high up to 55, but wet weather will move in overnight with showers likely on Saturday night and a low of 41.

Sunday’s forecast also has chances of rain – 50% during the day, 30% overnight – with a high again in the mid 50s and a low down to 41.

The week will open with a little sunshine on Monday with a high back up to 64, and look for that to sustain itself into next Tuesday and Wednesday with chances of rain and highs in the low 60s, and down into the 40s and 30s overnight respectively.

The long and short of it: Polk County was warm, will get chilly again, and then turn warm at least one more time before the season officially changes to winter.

Stay warm and safe, keep the umbrella handy, and grab some decongestant as needed.
