Those who enjoy the crisp air and glint of sunshine caused by frost in the morning will enjoy today’s sunrise, but everyone else will want to bundle up and silently mutter about the cold.
Well, that’s the best guess based on what the National Weather Service forecast out of Peachtree City is for the end of the week.
Polk County is waking up to a frosty morning once again as 2025 starts off with a chill in the air, and it’ll remain seasonal as highs are expected to only get to 52 on the day, and drop right back down below freezing overnight. Widespread frost is expected to return after 10 p.m. tonight, and the thermometer is down to 23 before daybreak returns to open the weekend.

Look for much of the same tomorrow with sunshine dominating the forecast and a high of just 46 on the day, with a low down to 27 overnight with below-freezing temps still kicking around. Partly cloudy skies are expected Saturday night as potential for rain moves in on Sunday.
Showers however won’t start until after 1 p.m. Sunday based on the best estimates from the NWS Peachtree City forecast, and will stick around through Sunday night. Look for a high to cap off the weekend of 54, and it’ll get down to 33. (Sorry folks, not quite cold enough for snow just yet. Maybe tomorrow that’ll change.)
The cold is coming: starting next week on Monday, the NWS calls for temperatures to be up to the 40s as a high, and down into the 20s as a low. By Wednesday, the temp will be up to 39 and down to 17 overnight, and a high of 36 by next Thursday.
Fortunately, the thermometer will start going back up the freezing level toward the 40s by next Friday.
Keep track of when freezing temps will have the most impact by checking into the Daily Forecast over the weekend.
