Well, this one is going to be a head scratcher: it’ll be warmer this evening than it was 24 hours prior, and remain that way heading into Thursday before another drop of the mercury again.
What’s the old saying: Don’t like Georgia weather? Wait around a few, it’ll change.
It got well down into the 20s overnight – and by City of Cedartown standards it was getting there fast before midnight – and more of the same is in store for the days to come but first a brief reprieve is in store.

Forecasters in Peachtree City have the day starting off in the low 20s and widespread frost across Polk County and Northwest Georgia, but then expect the day to warm up as a front moves in and brings small chances of rainfall heading into Thursday morning.
By the time the evening commute rolls around today, it’ll have warmed back up into the mid-50s for the day and hang around in the mid-40s overnight.
Then the dramatic change in temperature begins with the other side of the front bringing cold air back to the region for the rest of the week. Expect a high of 49 on Thursday, and then a 30 degree dip in the thermometer overnight for a low of 19 overnight. So expect to leave the faucets dripping again before bedtime through the rest of the week.
NWS meteorologists in call for a high of 45 on Friday, and a low of 22 with widespread frost expected heading into Saturday morning. Temps are up to 52 on Saturday for upcoming events, and down to 22 again overnight before another front moves through on Sunday bringing more chances of rain and a high back up to 59.
Rain is expected to start next week, but look ahead to Friday’s forecast before deciding whether to pack the umbrella in the car for work.
Check back for further freezing temp updates as needed and bundle up in the days to come, Polk County.
