The temperature is going to be about as warm as it is going to get for the coming days early on Sunday morning, and then when the latest storm system pushes past a rush of arctic cold is coming behind it.
First, the area will get another round of rainfall overnight to add to an already soaked landscape.
NWS Peachtree City meteorologists are predicting that showers are expected along with the possibility of thunderstorms starting later this evening and into the early morning hours on Sunday.
Look for a low of around 46 as the weather shifts and winds upward of 15 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph as weather moves through.
Expect at least a half inch of rain heading into Sunday to add to inches of rain that fell on the region this past week.
Rain should move off by breakfast time on Sunday morning, and then expect temps to start fall and get colder as night moves in and the clouds are pushed out.
Expect a Sunday night low of 26, and winds gusting as high as 20 mph as the arctic weather pushes into Polk and the surrounding area.
President’s Day will arrive with sunshine and a high up to 49.
No current watches or warnings are in place locally, but severe weather has been impacting western Kentucky, all of western Tennessee, and along the Mississippi River corridor in Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana tonight.
The solid line of storms pushing from west of Nashville, Tennessee down to Jackson, Mississippi is followed on by rain and should reach the area after 3 a.m.
Tornado warnings were in effect through much of that corridor this evening.
Once the rain pushes past and the holiday concludes, the region is in for some real cold temps. Temps will get up into the 50s on Tuesday, and down into the 30s overnight before Wednesday brings highs in the 40s and chances of rain, and potential for rain and even snow showers overnight, but only up to 20% at the moment.
Highs will only get near 40 on Thursday, and down to the teens overnight as temps will struggle to get back up to seasonable through the rest of the coming week and into next weekend.
