Mrs. Violet Christine Smith, age 88, of Cartersville, GA, passed away Sunday morning, August 18, 2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Smith was born in Rome, GA, on September 6, 1935, a daughter of the late Edward Brownlow and Ethel Mae Adams Brownlow. She had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County, having spent the last 8 years in Bartow County.
Christine retired from Ford Motor Company where she was an assembly line seamstress.
She was an active member of Happy Valley Baptist Church and a former member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher.
Christine enjoyed reading and traveling, having visited all 48 contiguous states. Her greatest love was her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas B. Smith, four brothers, Leonard Brownlow, Otis Brownlow, Tommy Brownlow, and Bill Brownlow, four sisters, Myrtle Welchel, Betty Ford, Honor Teems, and Bobbie Lee Brownlow, son, James Martin “Buddy” Smith, daughter, Kathy Ann Formby, granddaughter, Angela Denise Bolden, great-granddaughter, Sara Polina Rickman.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Betty Christine Inwood, and Karen Annette (Jeff) Prince; daughter-in-law, Mary Darlene Smith. Many grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.
In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Smith will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday evening, August 20, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Jason Shipp officiating. Brandie Finley will deliver the eulogy.
Mrs. Smith’s family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
