Mrs. Vera Hutcheson Murray, age 102 of Rockmart, passed away Wednesday morning, June 29, 2022.
Mrs. Murray was born April 8, 1920 in Sycamore, GA , daughter of the late Robert Edgar Hutcheson and the late Nancy Elizabeth Ingram Hutcheson. She was a 1937 graduate of Rockmart High School and at the time of her death was the oldest living graduate of RHS. She retired from Sears after 26 years of service and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. Mrs. Murray enjoyed traveling and loved to write poetry, especially about her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren D. Murray on August 7, 1993; three sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Curtis Lewis; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Cheryle Stone; and a sister, Ruth Kinney all of Rockmart; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Murray will be held Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Mr. Brian Lewis officiating. Interment service will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Tim Lewis, Neil Lewis, Chris Lewis, Tommy Stone, Trey Blacksmith and Trevor Blacksmith.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
