A busy intersection that is a four-way stop is being potentially proposed as a place where a roundabout would go.

The county’s Facebook page posted a link to a survey that is seeking comment on whether the potential state Department of Transportation project is needed at the intersection that connects Canal Street out of Cedartown and near the convenience center, Highway 278 and the cutoff for Highway 100 used by tractor trailers.

Previously, discussion about the project at the county level included the state’s proposal for the local government to cover costs of additional lighting that would be needed at night on an annual basis.

From the county’s post:

“A proposal has been made to convert a four-way stop into a single-lane roundabout with a four-legged approach at the Canal Street and State Route 6 intersection located in western Polk County. Visit the link below to take a 3 question survey regarding this topic. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! The survey will be open until 3/31/21.”

Here’s the link to the survey. It takes 30 seconds to take, and requires no personal information.

Check back for more on this proposed project if it moves forward.
