The Northwest Georgia Regional Commission’s Area Agency on Aging is asking local residents to provide their thoughts on how dementia is impacting the community at large in order to provide better help to those impacted by the several diseases that involve memory loss and many other symptoms.
The Polk County Dementia Friendly Survey has been available for the past several weeks, but local residents are still able to provide their thoughts on how dementia impacts those diagnosed with the symptoms and caregivers.
The goal is to seek out the priorities where people need help and making the community more dementia friendly.
Dementia isn’t so much a disease as it is a grouping of symptoms most commonly surrounding memory loss, but includes Alzheimer’s and other diseases.
