Some good news: the rain falling across Polk County and Northwest Georgia won’t linger as Holy Week wraps up on Sunday as the sun comes out tomorrow morning to usher in the celebration of Easter.

All the churches hosting early morning services will be glad that wet weather dominating the forecast today will be moving out of the area overnight, and sunshine is expected with temperatures up to 67 on the day. Do be aware, wind are expected to be gusty (up to 20 mph) throughout the day, and could impact outdoor plans.

Warmer weather will begin to return by the coming midweek.

Sunrise services are still planned in both Cedartown and Rockmart by the respective First United Methodist Churches. Cedartown First United Methodist will begin their sunrise service at Peek Park at 7 a.m.

Rose Hill Cemetery will play host to the Rockmart First United Methodist Sunrise Service, also set to start at 7 a.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 6:45 a.m.

Easter Sunday’s sunrise is expected at 6:58 a.m.

Both of the Methodist churches will be hosting 11 a.m. services on Sunday as well.

Additional outdoor plans are expected for First Baptist Church of Cedartown, who are hosting a family breakfast and egg hunt starting at 9:30 a.m., with their Easter service to follow at 10:30 a.m.

First Baptist of Rockmart is holding their Sunday service at normal times. They held an egg hunt in late March.

Up in Rome, Good Shepherd Funeral Home is also hosting a free egg hunt and breakfast for the community, followed by a service. Their event begins at 6 a.m., with a message by Pastor Chris Hayes and music from Andy McGuire.
