Residents around the area of Cherokee Circle and Evergreen Road will want to note that they might be getting some new neighbors in the coming months, should the Cedartown Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Commissioners both approve a subdivision plan for the area that would add another 150 houses to the area.

Cedartown City officials posted a notice yesterday about the proposed 150-unit subdivision being considered for the Evergreen Lane area, on property directly behind Second Baptist Church and St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church, with a roadway that would connect via Cherokee Circle.

Here’s the notice posted on Thursday:

After the notice went out, the city has followed up with some additional answers they know about the subdivision at this time.

The subdivision being sought for building by Nomax Investments would be utilizing city sewer services, per City Manager Edward Guzman.

He said that developers have said their plans if approved are to build single family homes on the 47 acres of land, but haven’t provided a formal proposal for how they would look.

The city released the layout of the subdivision and the aerial layout of the entire site.

Here are those documents:

Note that there is a strip of land next to St. Bernadette’s the developers could utilize as a potential second entrance to the subdivision, and while city officials have asked about it have not yet received an answer back about the design question that could impact traffic flow around the churches, neighborhoods and Cherokee Elementary School.

The Feb. 28 public hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. The Cedartown Commission meeting where residents will get a chance to comment is being held at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 14.

Check back for additional information about the development as it becomes available.
