Officials are making decisions ahead of time for whether they’ll be closed ahead of a snowstorm set to impact Polk County and the surrounding area coming up on Friday, January 10.
Here’s a list of closures we know about so far:
Polk School District campuses will be closed on Friday, January 10 and students will take part in a Learn-from-Home Day. See that announcement here.
Covenant Christian School is closing on Friday, Jan. 10 for students at their campus on Prior Station Road at New Harmony Baptist Church.
Georgia Northwestern Technical College will close all of its campuses ahead of snow on Friday, January 10.
Haralson County School District will be closing their campuses on Friday out of an abundance of caution.
Bremen City Schools are closed for Friday ahead of the snow.
The Hive Play & Cafe’s Discovery School is called off for Friday morning.
The City of Aragon is closing on Friday, Jan. 10 for the day. Officials from the Police Department and Public Works will be working.
Northwest Georgia Public Health is closing all of their health department offices in the district on Friday, Jan. 10.
Our House Thrift Store will be closed on Friday.

The City of Cedartown offices will be closed out of an abundance of caution on Friday, Jan. 10. Look for them to reopen on Monday. Joining them is the City of Rockmart, also closed for Friday.
Both municipalities will have first responders and public works officials working to help where needed during the storm and keep the public safe.
Additionally, the County Government offices and the Polk County Courthouse will be closed on Friday. Public Safety and Public Works will be working.
The City of Cave Spring offices are also closed on Friday just north of Polk in Floyd County. They’ll reopen on Monday. Fire and Police will be at work.
Georgia Highlands College joins a list of schools closed for the impending winter storm. Their campuses will reopen on Monday.
Haralson County government offices and the Haralson County Courthouse are closed for the winter storm.
The City of Bremen is closed tomorrow, but first responders and public works will be working through the storm.
The City of Tallapoosa offices are closed for Friday, January 10.
The City of Dallas and Hiram are closed for Friday.
Paulding County School District is closing school on Friday. Sporting and after school events (along with those on Saturday) will be called off for the time being. Look for rescheduling in the coming days.
Floyd County Schools announced they’ll be closed Friday, and events on Saturday are canceled.
Rome City Schools are closed for Friday. Events will be rescheduled for Friday and Saturday on the calendar.
Business/organization closings:
Life Matters Outreach will close their offices on Friday. Call to reschedule any appointment on the books on Monday.
Coosa Valley Credit Union will close their branches around the area for the winter storm on Friday, Jan. 10.
Cedartown and Rockmart branches of Colony Bank are closed for the weather on Friday.
The Perch on Marble in Rockmart is closed on Friday.
Outpatient locations for AdventHealth Redmond in the area will be closed. That includes Primary Care office in Cedartown.
Stagecoach Pizza in Cave Spring plans to open at 11 a.m. Friday, depending on the weather forecast. They won’t be opening for breakfast.
Atrium Health Floyd Primary Care and Urgent Care locations will be closed Friday because of a winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service, per their posting within the last hour.
Pirkle’s Deli in Cedartown will be closed Friday.
Family Dollar in Cedartown will be closed both Friday and Saturday due to the winter storm.
Polk Veterinary Care is closed on Friday (as of late Thursday evening.)
Events/Sports:
Rockmart Recreation and Cedartown Recreation activities planned for Saturday are called off.
Sports and extracurricular activities in the Polk School District on Friday, Jan. 10 are canceled. Reschedule dates will be announced in the coming days.
Polk School District’s Thrive in 2025 was moved to Jan. 25.
A ceremony celebrating Pinhoti Trail Association’s honoring of the late Commissioner Scotty Tillery has been moved to Jan. 25.
