Mrs. Shirley M. Brown

Mrs. Shirley M. Brown, age 81, of Auburndale, FL, a former resident of Polk County, GA, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023 in a Winter Haven, FL, hospital.

Shirley was born in Chattanooga, TN, on February 23, 1942, a daughter of the late Cecil Benefield and Gaynell Walker Benefield.

Ronnie was born March 31, 1942 in Dalton, GA, son of the late Homer Cline Brown and Eva Leola Pratt Brown.

Shirley and Ronnie were married on April 16, 1959.

They loved to travel together, play golf together and even be in business together. She was a bookkeeper for over 30 years and also a co-owner with her husband, Ronnie, of Brown Carpet Services. They were members of the Church of God of the Union Assembly. She was an excellent cook while Ronnie was a singer and songwriter.

Ronnie passed away October 15, 2022, and because of unusual circumstances, no service for him was held at the time. Saturday’s service will be a Celebration of two lives reunited.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Ronnie Brown, on October 15, 2022, and a son, Anthony Tyrone “Ty” Brown.

Shirley is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie Shane and Lisa Brown of Auburndale; two grandchildren, Rylee Brown and Tyler Brown; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Bob Shirah of Rockmart, GA, Bobbie Allen of Cedartown, GA, and Sue and Ken Thomason of Rockmart. A half-brother, Billy Benefield, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life for Shirley and Ronnie will be Saturday afternoon, March 25, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Pratt and Rev. Paul Thomas Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

Shirley’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Saturday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will include Marty Bevins, Tyler Brown, Wilian Mendez, Glenn Shropshire, LaBron Morgan, and Conner Kiser.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of the arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Shirley M. Brown.
