Mr. Roy Lee Swift, III, age 78, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022.
Mr. Swift was born in Madison, GA on October 1, 1943, a son of the late Roy Lee Swift, Jr. and the late Ollie Ruth Rowell Swift. Roy had been a resident of Rockmart since 1950 where he was a 1962 graduate of Rockmart High School.
He was a member of the Rockmart Masonic Lodge # 97 F&AM for over fifty years and was he of the Baptist faith. Mr. Swift was a past High Priest of Piedmont Chapter Royal Arch Masons. He had a love for old cars and was a former member of the CHVA Car Club. He also enjoyed fishing.
Roy retired from Lockheed-Martin where he was a tool maker. He also was a retired roofer, former truck driver, and operator of his green house for fifteen years as well as D-N-R Used Furniture for six years. Roy loved his family and taught his boys well and prepared them for life.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters: Ann McCramey and Ruth Reece; brother, Anthony Swift; great-grandson, Kyle Griffin; and devoted friends: Geneive Seymour and Annie Wilson.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Diane Swift of Rockmart, to whom he was married on August 16, 1963; two sons: Roy Lee Swift, IV (Carlotta), Rockmart and William Robert Swift, Rockmart; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Adair officiating and Masonic Rites provided by the West Georgia Masonic Memorial Club.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 pm until the service hour at the funeral home.
