Rockmart man jailed after blackmail attempt with private photos

Jackson Tyler Forrister

A Rockmart man remains in jail on serious charges after he attempted to blackmail a victim using private photographs to obtain more, according to a Rockmart Police investigation into the incident.

Police charged Jackson Tyler Forrister, 29, of a Rome address on Monday with a felony county for transmitting or posting a nude or sexually explicit photo/video to website/live webcam or message board, along with misdemeanors for electronically transmitting or posting a nude or sexually explicit photo/video second or subsequent offense, and sexual extortion.

His bond was denied.

Detective Frank Golden explained that Forrister used a messenger service to reach out to the victim, and after the two talked for some time was able to get private photos from the victim.

Forrister was alleged to have wanted more photos, and when the victim refused, Forrister told them that he would send the photos to their family and post it online. The victim continued to refuse, and Forrister carried out his threat.

Police were able to identify Forrister’s activities by tracking down his IP address and matching it to the messages he sent and the postings an adult website where the photos were also found.

He was taken into custody on Monday on the trio of charges and remains in the Polk County Jail.
