Mrs. Rilla Onell Carr Holcombe, age 81, of Calhoun, GA, and formerly of Rockmart, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022.
Rilla was born in Rome, GA on June 25, 1941, a daughter of the late Virgil Stenson Carr and the late Bessie Dempsey Carr.
Mrs. Holcombe lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart where she was a homemaker and house wife who took great care of her five children. Rilla loved to socialize with others and just enjoyed life. She was a member of Dugdown Baptist Church; she loved her family, and her dog, Toadfrog.
In addition to her parents, Rilla was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Holcombe; brother, Charles Carr; and three sisters, Sara Morgan, Louella Carr, and Dot Hudgins.
Survivors include her three daughters, Laura Higdon (Ricky), Heard County; Teresa Williams (Phillip Chandler), Aragon, and Linda Morgan (Chuck), Calhoun; two sons, David Holcombe, Cedartown, and Charles Wayne Holcombe (Kandi), Rome; fourteen grandchildren; thirty three great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating and eulogies given by family and friends. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Hunter Holcombe, Evan Holcombe, Dallas Holcombe, Brian Holcombe, Derick Mulkey, and Glenn Norman, Jr.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, October 18, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
