Rev. Jimmy Shoemaker, age 74, of Buchanan, GA, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023.
Jimmy was born in Cedartown, GA on February 5, 1949, a son of the late James Shoemaker and the late Aline Swann Shoemaker. Jimmy had lived the greater part of his life in Buchanan and was a pastor of many churches in the Northwest Georgia area and Eastern part of Alabama.
He enjoyed gardening and flowers, but his greatest love was his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by two daughters, Stacey Michelle Carter and Tammy Brewer.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty six years, Annette Dunn Shoemaker, to whom he was married on August 12, 1966; daughter, Charity Agan and her husband, TJ of Buchanan; eight grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Joe, Randall, Jerry, Sammy, and Bobby Shoemaker; sister, Diane Adcock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Rev. Jimmy Shoemaker will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Head and Rev. Danny Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jesse Davis officiating.
Pallbearers will include Landan Carter, Brysen Graham, Billy Joe Romero, Keith Rainey, Allen Dunn, and Heath Dunn. Honorary pallbearers will include Chris Cash, Dell Dunn, Ashley Haney, Timothy Cochran, and Jason Cochran.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, April 25, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
