A local woman was booked on a warrant from a March theft where she was accused of taking a checkbook and Apple Watch, and then used a check to pay herself according to Polk County Police reports.
Brittany (possibly spelled Brittiny) Leeann Padgett, 21, of a Rockmart address, was booked into custody on Monday on a warrant for forgery after she took the checkbook back in March after staying with the victim for three days.
She was also alleged to have taken an Apple Watch at the time.
Several days after the two items went missing, the victim became aware of a $400 check cashed by Padgett signed over to her for “Lawn Care,” per the report.
Police finally caught up with her on Monday, July 1, following a warrant being taken out in March for her arrest following the report. She was booked into custody by the Polk County Sheriffs Office for the single warrant around 6 p.m.
She remained in custody as of this posting without bond set on forgery in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.
Padgett was part of a 2021 arrest for drug charges when a backpack was found during a traffic stop.
