A Rockmart woman and an Aragon man were jailed on drug charges after police found suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop, and neither claimed ownership of the drug.

Polk County Police arrested Christopher Lee Reed, 51, of 210 Goss Road, Aragon, and Virginia Faye Dawson, 19, of 123 Super Deluxe Road, Rockmart, were both jailed on Tuesday, February 8, after being taken into custody during an evening traffic stop near the intersection of Atlanta Highway and New Street in Rockmart.

Officers reported that they pulled the 1996 Ford Ranger being driven by Reed while on patrol and after running the tag while behind the driver and finding that Reed was driving on a suspended license and had an active warrant for his arrest.

Once pulled over, police took Reed into custody immediately, and then were given permission to search the truck.

Police found a plastic container with suspected meth inside, and took Dawson into custody as well.

Neither Dawson or Reed claimed ownership of the meth when questioned after being cuffed and read their rights.

Reed and Dawson both remained in jail without bond set as of this posting on several charges. Reed was booked for felony possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanors for driving on a suspended license and the bench warrant for his arrest.

Dawson faces a single felony charge for possession of methamphetamine.
