
Rockmart Police had no choice but to take a man off his medication for several weeks assaulted an older member of the household where he was staying, according to reports.
Jonathan Cory Higgins, 39, of a Rockmart address, was taken into custody this past Friday, June 11, following a call to a household for a domestic disturbance after he was alleged to have struck another man in the home who was over 65 years old several times, then kicked out a television after asking another person in the house to call 911 amid mental health issues.
Police took him into custody without further incident on misdemeanor charges of battery, battery against a person who is 65 years of age or older, and criminal trespass. He was released without any bail set on the charges.
