Chad Gene Pinkard

A Rockmart man was jailed several charges following a weekend traffic stop by local police, according to a report filed over the weekend.

Chad Gene Pinkard, 48, of 603 Gates Drive, Rockmart, remained in jail on a felony and three misdemeanor charges after Rockmart Police pulled him over around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, April 17 near the intersection of South Piedmont Avenue and Springdale Road with a broken tail light.

The report stated that Pinkard initially pulled out a debit card to provide to the officer, but quickly found his license and handed that over instead. The officer found that suspicious, and asked Pinkard to get out of the car for a search.

When he gave his consent, the reporting officer found a rock of crack cocaine wrapped in cellophane in his pocket. As he was being taken into custody, police asked if he had any other contraband on his person.

Pinkard told police that he had a pipe hidden in his butt, and pulled it out instead of officers having to find it and turned it over to officers.

While at the jail, Pinkard blew a blood alcohol level of .122 grams.

Pinkard remained in jail with no bond set on a felony charge of possession of cocaine, along with misdemeanor charges of tag lights required, DUI and possession and use of drug-related objects.
