A trio of men were arrested following a traffic stop this past Saturday with more than a pound of marijuana, according to a Rockmart Police press release this morning.

Officers arrested Anterrian Tevell Middlebrooks, 27, of 394 Forrest Hills Drive, Dallas, along with Robert Landon Harper, 25, of 65 Cashtown Road, Aragon and Michael Andrew West, 19, of 127 Cashtown Loop Rd., Aragon following a traffic stop performed on Saturday, March 27 at 8:40 p.m.

The release did not explain why the trio were stopped, but did state that Middlebrooks took off from the vehicle “upon one of the officers smelling marijuana in the vehicle.”

Middlebrooks was taken into custody a short distance away.

After the trio were in custody, police searched and found 1.5 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle, along with various paraphernalia items.

Middlebrooks was charged with a trio of felonies for two counts of possession of marijuana (purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale) along with possession of tools for commission of a crime. He was also jailed on a trio of misdemeanor charges for obstruction of law enforcement officers. He was later released on an $18,000 bond.

West was released on a $22,550 bond for felonies for two counts of possession of marijuana (purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale) along with possession of tools for commission of a crime and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, along with a traffic charge for stoplights/fog lights/auxiliary lights and a misdemeanor tampering with evidence.

Harper was the only one of the three who was still in jail on an $8,000 bond on felonies for two counts of possession of marijuana (purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale) along with possession of tools for commission of a crime and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, and a misdemeanor charge of tampering with evidence.

“The Rockmart Police Department would like to thank the Polk County Drug Task Force for their assistance in the case. As always, we all achieve more when we work together,” the release stated.
