Mr. Randy C. Smith, age 63, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
Randy was born in Rome, GA on January 12, 1960, a son of Jimmy Ray “J.R.” Smith and Mary Dathnia Benefield Ledford. A lifelong resident of Polk County, Randy was a graduate of Cedartown High School and a member of Sardis Methodist Church.
He enjoyed restoring antique trucks and cars, cutting grass and working on tractors. His greatest love was his family and playing with his grandchildren. Randy retired from Meggitt after forty three years where he served as maintenance supervisor.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, J.R. Smith; step-mother, Mearlyn Smith; step-father, Jack Ledford; and brother, Ronald Lee Smith.
Randy is survived by his wife of forty three years, Wanda Lee Smith of Rockmart; three daughters, Andrea Smith of Dallas, Amanda (James) Riding of Buchanan, and Adrian (Joshua) Thompson of Rockmart; mother, Mary Dathnia Ledford of Cedartown; five grandchildren, Ashton Hughes, Andrew Hughes, Sara Riding, Nathan Reynolds, and Norah Thompson; two brothers, Troy Ray Smith of Opelika, AL, and Jerome Smith of Cedartown; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Graveside funeral and interment services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Corey Smith and Brother Tommy Marchbanks officiating.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Joshua Thompson, James Bones, Darrell Lee, Dale Lee, David Purser, Justin Campbell, and Jeff Swift. Honorary pallbearers will include employees of Meggitt Maintenance and Custodial Department.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 12 noon until 1:45 at Bellview Baptist Church.
