Timothy Williams of Rockmart High School will go on to represent Polk School District as this year’s STAR Student.

Williams selected Andy Cox to be the STAR Teacher for Rockmart High School for 2021, and both go onto compete on the region level.

The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition is in its 63rd year, and is promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators annually.

Graduating High School seniors must have the top SAT score and be in the Top 10 percent or Top 10 students of their class to be considered.

Cox, the STAR Teacher for the District, is Rockmart High School’s Band Director.

Cedartown High School’s Ethan Lester took the STAR Student title for the Bulldogs this year. He nominated Chuck Thaxton – also District 2 County Commissioner – for this year’s STAR Teacher title. Thaxton teaches in the Polk County College and Career Academy at the Cedartown campus.

PSD announced the STAR Students and Teachers on April 28.
