The Polk County Emergency Management Agency is pleased to announce an important upgrade to its public alerting system, aimed at enhancing the safety and well-being of our community.
Effective February 10, 2025, Polk County will transition from the current CodeRED Public Alerting System to the new and improved Smart911 platform, powered by RAVE Mobile Safety.
Smart911 offers advanced features and capabilities that will provide residents with more reliable and effective emergency alerts and notifications.
Additionally, this new system will cut the cost of public alerting by more than half, while providing more functionalities and benefits than CodeRED. This change is part of our ongoing commitment to leveraging state-of-the-art technology to ensure the highest level of public safety for our residents.
To continue receiving critical Emergency Alerts and Weather Notifications from Polk County, residents are encouraged to take the following steps:
- Text ENROLLPOLK to 77295 – or –
- Visit https://www.polkga.org/polk-alert to create an account.
Residents currently signed up for CodeRED will continue to receive alerts until February 10, 2025. If you sign up for Smart911 Alerts while still enrolled in CodeRED, you will receive certain alerts from both services up until the transition date.
It is important to note that after February 10, 2025, residents will no longer receive alerts from the CodeRED system. We urge everyone to promptly enroll in the new Smart911 system to stay informed about any emergencies and weather-related incidents affecting Polk County.
