The Polk County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has announced that they have selected Marianne Wood as the Chamber’s new Executive Director. She will replace Blair Elrod, with an official transition at the end of March.

“I am excited, honored and humbled to be given this opportunity. I plan to embrace this opportunity to listen and solicit the ideas, needs and advice from local business owners and community leaders,” Wood said.

Wood has previously served as the Public Relations Director at the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce and has an extensive background in marketing and sales with Southern Transcription Services, The Syllogist Group and the Metro Kia Dealership. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Shorter University in 2015.

“As Executive Director, I look forward to partnering with the businesses and members of the Polk County Chamber of Commerce to serve and bring growth to our community,” Wood added when asked about what she is most looking forward to.

“Small businesses are the foundation on which communities are built. They are the backbone. The success of our small businesses stimulates economic growth within our community. They contribute to our local government, provide employment opportunities, while creating a unique culture and a sense of community. Without them, there is no community. We should all take pride in supporting our hometown community and embrace positive growth for a bright future in Polk County,” she added.

The search committee for the position was headed by Board Chair, Dan Bevels. “We’re excited to have Marianne on our team and look forward to working with her to add to the foundation Blair has established,” Bevels said.

Wood resides in Polk County with her husband, Aaron and three children, Leanna, Luke, and Lauren.
