Polk County Police and Aragon Police worked together in the early morning hours of Wednesday to take two into custody on warrants after an officer with a watchful eye spotted a motorcycle he knew and hoped to nab another suspect with warrants in the process, according to reports.

James Dewayne Bishop, 34, and Jennifer Leigh Clark, 38, 113 White River Road, Aragon, were both taken into custody around 1:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19.

Per Polk County Police reports, neither were the suspect that police originally sought. The officer who spotted a motorcycle at the BP at 104 GTM Parkway, Rockmart, thought he might find a suspect named “Billy Dylan Pinkard” within the gas station, but instead found a man claiming to be “James Dawson.”

It turned out to be Bishop, who told officers he had purchased the motorcycle and paid for it without any paperwork to prove it on Facebook Marketplace from a seller in Alabama. When police further questioned him and couldn’t find information about him in the state network.

Bishop admitted his real name and that he had given the false name because he had warrants out for his arrest. When he was taken into custody, a woman arrived on the scene to come collect the motorcycle and then informed officers of a passenger in her vehicle who said not to mention her name, because she also had warrants out for her arrest as well.

Clark told police initially her name was “Kandi Stevens” but later admitted to giving police a false name as well to avoid being taken to jail.

Aragon Police took Clark to the Polk County Jail for booking, and PCPD took Bishop to jail as well.

No further mention was made about Pinkard, who otherwise remains at-large.

Bishop remains in the Polk County Jail no bond set for the multiple misdemeanor charges he faces including two counts of fourth degree forgery, theft by receiving, theft by deception, giving false name, address, or birthdate to law enforcement officer, a bench warrant and a charge of deposit account fraud (bad checks) no more than $1,499. The bench warrant did come with a $350 bond, but he remains in custody until bond amount can be set on the other charges.

Clark was being held with no bond set on a felony bench warrant and the misdemeanor charge of giving false name, address, or birthdate to law enforcement officer.
