Francis Ginger Locklear

A traffic stop just past the Yorkville Highway turnoff and just inside the Polk County line near Paulding resulted in the arrest of a woman who police report was a passenger in the car and found with heroin and methamphetamine, among other items according to Polk County Police reports.

Francis Ginger Locklear, 36, of 8 Grove St., Aragon, was jailed on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a search made during the traffic stop when police saw items they suspect might be used for shooting up heroin or smoking methamphetamine.

The stop that took place around 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8 was initiated when the driver slightly swerved over the line in the right lane.

Police pulled the Mercedes over just past the Yorkville Highway turnoff after police caught up with it after traveling toward Rockmart.

Police reported the driver gave his license and information over without issue, but Locklear at first lied to police about her identity even though she was known to officers.

They ran her information through the state and national criminal databases and found that Locklear had warrants in both Polk and Floyd counties for her arrest. Police came back to the vehicle and asked the driver for permission to conduct a search based on empty pill bottles, which the driver claimed were for a spider bite.

Before getting out of the car, Locklear was reported to have “exited the vehicle her shorts were unbuttoned and unzipped and it appeared that she may have been attempting to hide something” so an officer from the Rockmart Police was requested to the scene to aid in the search. Police asked Locklear if she had items in her purse, and she simply told them “stuff.”

That “stuff” turned out to be several items used to take illegal narcotics. That included a used syringe, a spoon with suspected heroin residue, several small baggies of methamphetamine, a glass pipe with meth residue, used syringes, and a set of digital scales with suspected drug residue on it as well that were located in two different purses in the vehicle.

Police took her into custody without further incident and after reading Locklear her Miranda rights she was asked about the items in the purses, along with her involvement in a separate case involving a vehicle taken from a property without permission.

Locklear was not reported to have discussed the drugs and paraphernalia found in her purse, but did tell officers she had returned the vehicle on Monday.

She remained in the Polk County Jail with bond denied on a felony bench warrant, along with a misdemeanor probation violation charge. She was charged in this incident for Possession with intent for a Schedule I or II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession and use of drug related objects, possession of tools for commission of a crime and giving false name, address, or birthdate to law enforcement officer.
