Mr. Pledger Moody, age 86, of Rockmart, GA, (the Yorkville Community) passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022.
Mr. Moody was born in the Yorkville community on November 8, 1936, a son of the late Pledger Melvin Moody and Gladys Mae Camp Moody.
He had lived all his life in Yorkville and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Moody retired from Lockheed-Martin Corporation after 41 years of service. He loved traveling and taking bus tours and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Moody was preceded in death by four brothers, Billy Moody, Guy Moody, Gene Moody, and Ray Moody.
Mr. Moody is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruby Gilreath Moody, whom he married August 15, 1958; daughter, Denise Moody of Yorkville; granddaughter, Ansley Felker of Yorkville; two sisters, Alta Johnson and Shelia Ezzell, both of Yorkville; brother, Raymond Moody of Yorkville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Moody will be Tuesday afternoon, December 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Brother Jeremy Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in Yorkville Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Moody’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
Pallbearers will include Dennis Hicks, Kenneth Hicks, Micky Hicks, Joel Hicks, David Felker, and Terry Moody.
