Those who want to become a Notary Public or have a stamp should take note of an upcoming class being held free of charge in the coming days.
A class being offered by Superior Court Clerk Stacie Baines is being held on Thursday, January 9 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The class will be held via Zoom, but those who want to participate will need to RSVP with the Clerk’s office to register. An email with the link will be sent to participants.
Anyone seeking more information can contact the clerk’s office at 770-749-2114 at extension 5454. All are welcome to participate and they are free for those interested in becoming a notary.
Current stamp holders should take note of new state law that went into effect on January 1, requiring anyone who is already a notary to complete an educational training course, and is available at https://elearn.gsccca.org.
All those who become a notary are required to keep a journal of every action they take, and include information about each time the stamp is used and verify the person’s identity, among other items to prove self-filing use of their stamp.
Additional changes to state law include changes to real estate law through use of the clerk’s new e-filing portal at efile.gsccca.org.
