Cedartown, Ga – A new playground, which will serve God’s greatest gift to us — our children, is formally opening Sunday, Dec 22,2024, at Cedartown First Methodist Church. The new facility will open at 12 noon with a dedication service and fellowship meal to follow.

The public is invited to attend the celebration.

“Cedartown First Methodist Church and Cedartown First Methodist Church Preschool realize that they are tasked with serving and growing children in Christ,” said Britt Madden, pastor at Cedartown First. “Children need to know love; through this new playground, children and their families will have a chance to experience the love and generosity of those who make this project possible.”

Through gifts from the Winn 3 Community Fund, the estate of Weesie Parker, and the membership of Cedartown First Methodist Church, the dream of providing an all-weather playground space has come to fruition.

EcoPlay Structures based in Marietta, Ga. built the playground out of recycled plastics and other materials purposely designed for the structure to be in place for many generations to come.

“Cedartown First Methodist and the preschool are so grateful to the Winn 3 Charitable Funds for the new playground and to the Weesie and Fred Parker estate for the cover over the playground,” said Kathy Carter, church member and preschool liaison. “Judge Winn’s impact on the children in our church, preschool, and community leaves a legacy that will last for decades. We are so grateful for the cover that protects our children and allows the playground to be used in many types of weather.”

“Winn 3 Charitable Fund is so honored to be a part of this project, while remembering Judge Dan P. Winn, and Britt and Brenda Madden,” said Frank Winn, designate of the Winn 3 Charitable Fund. “They would all be so happy knowing the children of Cedartown will enjoy this playground.”

Cedartown First Methodist Church is an independent Methodist church in the Wesleyan tradition and offer many programs and ministries for all ages.

Cedartown First Methodist Church Preschool serves children from ages 6 weeks to 4 years old.
