Mr. Wendell Edmond Rhodes

Mr. Wendell Edmond Rhodes, age 69 of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021. He was born on April 18, 1951 in Ocilla, Georgia. He is the son of the late Glenn Thomas Rhodes Sr. and Nell Virginia Beasley Rhodes.

Wendell was a proud member of the Cedartown High School Class of 1969. Loving sports as he did Wendell played Basketball, Baseball, and Football in school. He was a four year letterman and the starting quarterback all four years of his high school career. He was a member of the Sherwood Forest Baptist Church and a devout Christian. But the most import thing to Wendell was his unwavering love and devotion to his family. He loved his Wife, Children and Grandchildren very much.

Mr. Rhodes is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Cathy Lynn Fowler Rhodes; daughter, Amy Rhodes Boyd (John); son, Wendell Corey Rhodes (Ginger); brother, Tommy Rhodes (Kim); grandchildren, Jacey Boyd Terrette (Austin), Kendal Kamille Boyd, Ella Claire Rhodes, Evan Corey Rhodes and Evie Cate Rhodes; a number of nieces, nephew and other extended family also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glen Thomas Rhodes Jr.

The celebration of life for Mr. Wendell Edmond Rhodes will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at three o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral home with Rev. Tim Burnham, Rev. Chris Hayes and Mr. Phillip Gammage officiating. In accordance with Mr. Rhodes’ wishes he will be cremated following the service.

The following gentlemen will serve as honorary pallbearers: Lynn Hunnicutt, Tim Tuck, Jeff Hunnicutt, Greg Hunnicutt, Michael Pearson, Joe Knight and “The Breakfast Club”.

The family of Mr. Wendell Edmond Rhodes will receive family and friends on Monday, January 18, 2021 from one o’clock in the afternoon until the service hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

In accordance with the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the CDC, social distancing guidelines will be in place as well as the use of masks highly recommended for all services provided for Mr. Wendell Edmond Rhodes.

The family respectfully requests that floral arrangements be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Sherwood Forest Baptist Church at 1 Goodman Rd. NE, Rome Ga. 30161.
