Mr. Thomas Giffin Cockrell, age 72 of Rockmart, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021.
He was born March 25, 1949, in Waukegan, Illinois, son of the late Warren Gurvis Cockrell and the late Callie Evelyn Cranfield Cockrell.
Mr. Cockrell was a chemist, having worked for Abbott Laboratories. He loved to dance, read, cook and enjoyed working in his garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Benny Joe Cockrell and Curt Cockrell.
Survivors include three sisters, Kay Bell, Nancy Stone Hampton, and Kim (Joel) Waters all of Rockmart; a brother, Larry Ray (Patricia) Cockrell of Antioch, Illinois; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Cockrell will be cremated, and no formal services will be held at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, 1575 Northeast Expressway, Atlanta, GA 30329.
