Mr. Jimmy C. Strange, age 85, of Rockmart, GA passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 in a Rome medical center.
Born on May 30, 1935 in Rockmart, GA, he is preceded in death by his parents Travis and Irene Strange and siblings William and C.B. Strange.
Married November 2, 1957, he is survived by his wife of almost 63 years Aletha McBryde Strange and their two children Jeff Strange (Crystal) and Donna Robinson (Neil). Surviving grandchildren are Christopher Strange, Jason Strange (Jennifer), Kyrstal Everette, Breanna Strange, Oakley Williamson, Creelan Strange and Kayla Hatch.
Jimmy loved the outdoors and all things pertaining to a simple southern way of life. He enjoyed farming, gardening and raising many beloved farm animals. In later years a main joy of Mr. Strange was spending time with family and playing with his many grand and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
He retired in 1982 from the Marquette Cement Company with 28 years of service but remained active in various endeavors for many years. At the time of his death he was the oldest living member of the New Prospect Baptist Church.
Mr. Strange will be laid to rest in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery where the family will hold a private funeral service.
For many years Mr. Strange served his church by overseeing the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 750 Prospect Road Rockmart, GA 30153 in his honor.
